After over two years of mourning following the kidnapping without release of Mr. Obiora Agbasimelo, who was their governorship candidate in the 2021 governorship election in Anambra State , a group known as Oga Ndi Oga Solidarity Movement is set to rekindle its activities. Recall that Oga Ndi Oga Movement adopted Obiora Agbasimelo of the Labour Party as their choice candidate for the governorship race before he was kidnapped by gunmen and never seen again till date.

The founder and CEO of Oga Ndi Oga Movement, who made massive waves in mass mobilization during the 2021 governorship race in Anambra, High Chief Godwin Agbasimelo, disclosed the intention of the group to commence activities to our reporter on the phone. He stated that the coordinators of the 21 local government areas in Anambra State, along with the local government women leaders, will converge at Nnewi on Wednesday for the first meeting after over two years.

High Chief Agbasimelo, also a renowned philanthropist, told our reporter that the group has been consciously missing in the scene of Anambra because the members are in a mourning mood over the long kidnap of their governorship candidate. Nevertheless, the group is now ready to move ahead, adding that the group will continue to focus on its usual activities of empowering the poor and needy, as well as the women and the youth in all nooks and crannies of Anambra State.

The Oga Ndi Oga boss, a Lagos-based businessman and master strategist revered by admirers for his business sagacity and massive philanthropic services, explained further that the meeting of local government coordinators and the women leaders is aimed at mapping out plans to reach out to the grassroots in urban and rural areas in their wards and communities with what Oga Ndi Oga has in content and in scope. He added that coordinators and the women leader will be charged to face hard work to cover up what has been missed in two years.

Asked if the Nnewi meeting is in connection with the wind of the 2025 governorship election in Anambra State that is blowing gradually, the popular businessman cum philanthropist said the priority of the Movement for now is to reconnect with its members in 326 wards, narrowing down to the communities. He added that the issue of the gubernatorial election is a decision that is usually taken by the local government coordinators, the women leaders, along with ward coordinators.

He added, “The issues of governorship lie on the ward coordinators mostly because they are the ones that are in the better position to make their choice because they know the candidates very well. For now, we want to start reaching out to our members with little things we can provide to empower them to cushion the effect of economic hardship currently bedeviling our people. That’s our priority now, not the governorship election.”
