Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONet), a foremost citizens advocacy platform has urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to sign into law the recently passed Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) Bill.

The leader, Prince Chris Azor who made the call in a statement on Tuesday also appealed to the Governor to keep his promise by constituting the ANSIEC body with the Chairman, Secretary and Commissioners accordingly.

He said, “The Anambra State House of Assembly has taken a significant step towards strengthening democracy in our State by passing the ANSIEC Bill into law.

“This crucial legislation which came as an executive Bill, aims to ensure the independence and effectiveness of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), while empowering the Commission to set in motion the process of conducting local government election in the State.

“We also appeal to Governor Soludo to keep your promise and demonstrate commitment to democracy and the rule of law by constituting the ANSIEC Body with the Chairman, Secretary and Commissioners accordingly.

“This of course will engender a stronger, more democratic Anambra State.”
