Minister of Health, Prof Ali Pate, will next week commission some state-of-the-art facilities, including the groundbreaking of a Regional Diagnostic Centre at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, Anambra State.
Chief Medical Director of NAUTH, Prof Joseph Ugboaja disclosed this in a press conference to mark one-year anniversary of the permanent site’s commissioning by President Bola Tinubu, commencement of third phase movement of clinical relocation as well as Minister’s maiden working visit to the facility.
He said arrangements have been concluded for a rousing reception and hosting of the Minister during the visit.
He said, “The Minister is expected to visit the hospital on 15th/16th July, 2024 to commission some of its facilities, including the groundbreaking ceremony of Regional Diagnostic Center.
“The management will also be honoring some of its benefactors, including Chief Cletus Ibeto, Sir Emeka Offor, Sen Ifeanyi Uba, Governor Chukwuma Soludo as well as some pioneer staff who worked for the success of the hospital established 34 years ago.
“Whatever you are doing for the hospital,you are doing for humanity”
According to Ugbaja, the institution is strategically positioned to administer specialised healthcare interventions as well as committed to federal government’s programmes targeted at reviving and upgrading the healthcare sector.
He revealed that the medical institution has deployed a 9-point agenda to actualise its commitment to being ranked among the best three in Nigeria
“The hospital with almost 1000 installed bed capacity is being gradually equipped with state-of-the-art healthcare facilities suitable in improving and promoting quality life and reducing medical tourism.
“We will continue to expand healthcare infrastructure, enhance knowledge and skills of workers, foster collaborations and partnerships to provide quality efficient services to citizens
“We will also continue to partner stakeholders including LNG for more oxygen plants and contribute its own quota towards achieving the laudable nine point agenda,” Ugbaja explained.
