National Examinations Council’s Senior School Certificate Examination has ranked Anambra State as the highest in NECO conducted Examinations.
The Registar, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi disclosed this during a chat with Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh after monitoring the 2024 NECO Senior School Certificate Examination.
He disclosed that Anambra State produced the highest number of candidates qualified for admission into the Federal Government Academy for the Gifted Children in the 2024 Examination.
He also commended the State for a credible conduct of the 2024 Senior Secondary Examination conducted by the Council.
“We’re satisfied with the conduct of the examination in the State. Actually, nothing less is expected of Anambra State, which has an academic in the person of Prof. Chukwma Soludo at the helm of affairs.
“The examination into Federal Government Academy Suleja, (the one and only academy for the Gifted children in the whole federation), as one of the examinations conducted by NECO has proved Anambra State as a high performing State in the country.
“Anambra State produced the highest number (35 candidates) that were successful in the recently concluded examination for the Gifted Children,” he revealed.
The Registrar however called for an increase in the enrollment of candidates for NECO examinations, saying that a high performing State like Anambra should have a high enrollment level.
Responding, the Commissioner said the Examination has provided opportunity for the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the National Examination Council of Nigeria to assess the performance of Anambra State.
