NULGE appoints Aromeh Anambra President, disowns Orakwue

National Executive Council (NEC), Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has appointed Aromeh Nicholas as Acting President of Anambra State following exit of Comrade Chikwelu Adigwe from the Service of Anambra State
Local Government Service Commission.

The Council also disowned Comrade Chuddy Orakwue-led executive which claimed leadership of the union on Wednesday amidst leadership vacuum.

Orakwue had announced his taking over from Chikwelu who was dismissed by the State Local Government Service Commission for alleged certificate racketeering.

But the NEC, in a letter signed by Secretary General, Comrade Gambo Isah, urged Aromeh to summon emergency State Executive Council (SEC) on or before Friday 26th July to brief them on the state of Affairs and development that happened in the state NULGE.

The letter read by Aromeh states, “On behalf of the National Executive Council (NEC) members of NULGE, I am directed to inform you of your appointment as the Acting State President of NULGE Anambra State Chapter.

“Your appointment was as a result of Comrade Chikwelu Adigwe William the State President’s exit from the Service of Anambra State Local Government Service Commission.

“Please note that your appointment takes immediate effect and you are to summon emergency State Executive Council (SEC) on or before Friday 26th July, 2024 to brief them on the state of Affairs and development that happened in the Anambra State NULGE.

“Finally, you are to keep the National Secretariat abreast of further development in the Union.”

The acting President, in his brief acceptance speech, pledged to run an all inclusive administration.

He dismissed as falacy alleged factionalization of the union, insisting that NULGE in the state is united and strong.

“NULGE in Anambra is enjoying a cordial relationship with the State Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Barrister Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka,” he added.
