Parents who visit school to quarrel with teachers should be ready to go with their children – Commissioner warns

Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has cautioned against parents’ altercation with teachers in schools across the state.

She warned that any parent that visits any school in the state to quarrel with teachers should be ready go with his/her child.

Speaking when the State House of Assembly Committee on Education paid an oversight visit to her Ministry, Chuma-Udeh promised to tackle the issues raised by the committee, including dilapidated schools, discipline and parents’ altercation with teachers in schools.

She called on the House members to forward the list of dilapidated schools, communities without public schools and survey documents of lands donated by the communities, reiterating Soludo’s readiness provide them with community schools.

While commending the House of Assembly for the choice of education-passionate individuals to form the House Education Committee, Chuma-Udeh thanked God for the grace that enabled the House to make the right choice.

She expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the support, friendship, regards and mutual respect of the committee members, which have been the sources of encouragement to the Ministry as she strives to translate Soludo’s education agenda into reality.

Earlier, Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Anayo Okpaleke commended the Commissioner for proactively handling the education sector in Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

He described as commendable the professionalism employed by Chuma-Udeh during the recruitment of teachers exercise in the State and the conduct of the 2024 WASSCE examination amidst seeming security challenges.

He noted that the teachers’ recruitment exercise was the first in recent times when recruitment was done on merit.
