Anambra born Kenechukwu Onwuemelie has been promoted to the position of Assistant Inspector General of Police by the Police service commission.
This was confirmed in a congratulatory message released by the Directorate of Press relations of Awka traditional institution.
The statement said the traditional Ruler of Awka Obi Gibson Nwosu had thanked the Inspector General of Police for finding Mr. Onwuemelie formerly Commissioner of Police suitable for the promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector General.
According to Obi Nwosu, the New Assistant Inspector General of Police is an upright personality who always believes in decency, decorum and transparency and expressed optimism that he will bring his wealth of experience in the police force to bear in his new position.
The traditional ruler while commending the Nigeria police and other law enforcement agencies for all their contributions towards the protection of lives and property called for public support to enable them to deliver on their various statutory responsibilities.
