Anambra State Labour Party governorship aspirant, Valentine Ozigbo, has urged citizens to reject Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the upcoming 2025 election. Ozigbo expressed concerns that granting Soludo a second term could destabilize the state, citing the deteriorating security situation and the pervasive fear among residents.

Ozigbo accused Soludo of using the state’s House of Assembly to pass laws aimed at undermining opposition parties in the forthcoming local government elections. In a statement posted on Saturday via his X handle, Ozigbo, who was previously a governorship candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), advised the Labour Party to remain resilient and field strong candidates for the council elections.

He stated, “Governor Soludo, in his usual manner of portraying himself as ‘the smartest in the room,’ has rushed to pressure the State House of Assembly into amending the Anambra Electoral Act. This is a calculated move to rig the election and install his loyalists in an attempt to secure his re-election bid. However, while this illegal act is destined to fail, we must not fall into the trap of boycotting the so-called election. Instead, we must use every opportunity to show that the people of Anambra are tired of waiting for the promised transformation into Dubai and Taiwan. Worse, we can’t even visit our homes safely, and those who remain in the state live in constant fear! The economy of Anambra has been crippled, leaving our people to struggle in poverty.
