Leaders of Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State have condemned the recent violence in Agu Anaocha axis of Ifite Nawfia, which resulted in the loss of lives and injuries on others.

President-General of Nawfia, Chief Daniel Okoye, and HRH Igwe (Amb) Sir Daniel Obelle, Ezeudo Nawfia who condemned the act in a joint statement denounced use of violence to settle disputes.

Describing the incident as “abomination of the highest order.” the leaders emphasized that Nawfia town values peace and dialogue, and its people are law-abiding citizens who believe in due process.

The leaders criticized Dr. Uche Nworah of Enugwu Ukwu for making “hasty insinuations” that the perpetrators were from Nawfia, without waiting for a proper police investigation.

They described Nworah’s comments as “inciteful, prejudicial, provocative, specious, and insensitive” to the sensibilities of Ndi Nawfia, aimed at raising tension for unknown purposes.

According to them, their investigation did not suggest any involvement of Nawfia individuals in the violent episode.

“The unwholesome activities of land grabbers and speculators in Agu Anaocha axis have been documented and brought to the attention of the Anambra State government for necessary action,.

“We call on law enforcement agents to swing into action and arrest the perpetrators and their sponsors to serve as deterrent to other criminally minded persons in the future,” the statement added.

While sympathising with the deceased’s families and wishing the injured quick recovery, the leaders prayed for the souls of the departed to rest in peace, expressing optimism that such an ugly incident would not reoccur.
