Sit-at-home: Attempt to disrupt public peace will be decisively dealt with – NSCDC

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State has reassured its preparedness to maintain peace and security across the state.

Commandant Maku Olatunde gave the assurance in response to the Indigenous People of Biafra’s (IPOB) two-day sit-at-home directive on October 21 and 22, 2024.

Maku, through Head Media and Tactical Ops, SC Okadigbo Edwin urged Anambra residents to go about their daily activities without fear or intimidation, warning that any individuals or groups attempting to disrupt public order would be dealt with swiftly and decisively.

The statement reads, “In continuation of its proactive measures to ensure public safety and security in response to the Indigenous People of Biafra’s (IPOB) two-day sit-at-home directive on October 21 and 22, 2024, the state command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps In collaboration with the Armed Forces and other security agencies, today Tuesday 22nd of October,2024 strategically deployed personnel across key areas of the state to protect lives and property, particularly in and around the critical National State and Local Government Assets and infrastructure .

“Commandant Maku Olatunde, the state commandant has directed a “Show of Force Operations” and “Confidence Building Patrols” across the state to address the alleged threat.

“This proactive measure aims to reassure Anambra residents of the command’s readiness to deter potential disruptions, maintain law and order, and prevent potential breaches of peace.

“He urged Anambra residents to go about their daily activities without fear or intimidation saying that the NSCDC, in collaboration with other security agencies, is fully prepared to maintain peace and security across the state.

“The Command while urging the public to remain calm and vigilant, be mindful of their surroundings, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security formation or call the emergency hotline at 08066769442, warned that any individuals or groups attempting to disrupt public order will be dealt with swiftly and decisively.”
