The Anambra State Association of Town Union (ASATU) Anambra East Local Government Youth Mayor, Rtn. Engr. Obiudu Child has called on National Assembly members to make laws and facilitate bills that will effectively promote youth development and sustain Nigeria’s democracy.
Engr. Obiudu made the call on Saturday when he led the Nsugbe Youth Assembly (NYA) on a condolence visit to the Senator representing Anambra North, Sen Tony Okechukwu Nwoye, during his father’s burial, Late Chief Lawrence Nwoye Nwabisi, in his country home in Offiantta Village in Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area.
Speaking to newsmen after the burial, Engr. Obiudu who is the President General, Nsugbe Youth Assembly (NYA) stated that the lifeline and the survival of Nigerian democracy depend on the kind of laws made by the legislature, stressing that the youths are ever ready to cooperate and support the legislators to promote good governance in their various communities when engaged and empowered in meaningful and productive ventures.
“We want the law makers to engage their constituents in constructive town hall meetings to sustain effective representation and also to sponsor quality bills and respond to the needs and priorities of their people through performing high-quality oversight functions to hold the executive accountable to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, he said!”
He highlighted the importance of encouraging and empowering Anambra North Youths to embark on Agriculture, particularly aquacultural activities to generate personal income and IGR for both the State and Federal Government, noting the advantage of the initiative in effectively arresting youth restiveness in the Agrirarian zone.
“Establishing a tertiary institution specifically for fishery and aquaculture in Anambra North and erection of stable farm settlements in all the local governments will help to meaningfully engage the youths and effectively reduce their inclinations to crimes and criminality, he added!”
He extolled Senator Tony Nwoye’s renowned sagacity and doggedness especially for his active participation in making significant contributions to drive home sufficient developmental projects for the overall wellbeing of the entire Anambra State people and also for his other numerous empowerment programs in his constituency.
The NYA President General sympathized with the Nwoye’s family and pray that God will grant the late Chief Lawrence Nwoye Nwabisi eternal rest and reflecting on the life and times of the late patriarch described him as a peaceful and kind man whose legacy of love and unity is remarkable and worthy of emulation by both his family and the entire Nsugbe community.
Engr. Obiudu further applauded the Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR for the ongoing developmental projects in the entire 21 local government area of the state and also commended the Governor’s exceptional commitment to the overall development of Anambra Youths through the “One Youth, Two Skills” empowerment program.
While appreciating the President General of ASATU Youth, Comrade Ken Okoli for mobilizing representatives from the 179 communities for the visit, He urge the youths to cease the opportunity to ensure sustainable personal development while they continue supporting the State Government to do more..
