Embattled Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Prof Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh on Thursday insisted he remained the number one citizen of the institution.
President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday announced the dissolution of UNIZIK’s Governing Council, which included the removal of Prof. Odoh and the university’s Registrar, Mrs. Rosemary Ifoema Nwokike.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Odoh asserted his innocence and intention to continue his duties.
He maintained he has not received any formal notification regarding his removal, insisting his appointment was lawful and followed due process.
He said, “I haven’t been communicated with. There’s no written communication from the NUC or the Ministry of Education. There has been no panel of inquiry or investigation. All I saw yesterday was information in the media saying I’ve been removed.
“I was not appointed through a press release. I was appointed by a constituted authority. I have not committed any crime,” he said. “After this interview, I’m heading to the office.”
