The children of the late Prof. Dora Akunyili and Dr. Chike Akunyili have shared a heartfelt family photo to mark Thanksgiving, honouring the memory of their beloved parents.
In a post shared by Edozie John Akunyili on social media, the family can be seen gathered around a Thanksgiving feast, smiling and radiating togetherness.
“Happy Thanksgiving from The Akunyilis, mum and dad would be so proud in heaven,” Edozie wrote.
The photo has warmed the hearts of many Nigerians, evoking memories of the remarkable contributions of their parents.
Prof. Dora Akunyili, a former Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Minister of Information, was renowned for her unwavering commitment to public service, transparency, and the fight against counterfeit drugs in Nigeria. She passed away in 2014 after battling cancer.
Dr. Chike Akunyili, her husband, was a respected physician and philanthropist who tragically lost his life in 2021 in a violent attack.
