Christmas: Rotary Club distributes gifts items, cash to less privileged in Onitsha

Rotary Club of Onitsha Metropolis has distributed 30 bags of rice, condiments and cash to the less privileged amidst challenging economic conditions.

Speaking during the club’s 2024 Family of Rotary celebration, President Rotarian Oby Arinze highlighted the importance of compassion and community during the festive season.

She described the Family of Rotary as a December tradition where members come together with family and friends to celebrate and bond.

“This year, the event took a humanitarian turn, focusing on the economically disadvantaged. Each recipient received one bag, ₦10,000 cash, and condiments.

“The Family of Rotary event remains a cherished occasion, fostering camaraderie among members and their families while providing a platform for relaxation and celebration.

“Most importantly, it underscores the Rotary spirit of service and giving back to the community.”

While expressing gratitude to Tiger Foods Limited for supporting the project, Rotarian Arinze emphasized the power of collaboration between organizations to achieve social good.

Chairman of the event, Rotarian Chuma Iwuoha, commended the members for their overwhelming support in making the initiative a success.

Beneficiaries of the Christmas outreach, including Mrs. Chioma Obi, Nnenna Omeh, and Nkechi Ede, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Rotary for their timely support during these trying times.

The celebration also featured a lecture by Prof. Chika Abba, who emphasized the importance of proper hydration for health.
