Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has launched Tactical Response Hybrid Squad, a specialized unit designed to prevent and respond to potential security threats in the state ahead of Christmas and New Year festivities.
State Commandant Maku Olatunde stated this at the State Command Headquarters Awka during his tactical digest with heads of Departments and Units, Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Heads of formations and Composite Commanders.
According to him, the newly launched Squad will focus on protecting Critical National, State, and Local Government Assets and Infrastructure, eliminate quacks in private security outfits, stop the activities of illegal miners and prevent illegal dealings in petroleum products.
“Our vision is to make Anambra a safe state for everyone through our relentless pursuit of vandals, illegal miners, economic saboteurs, quacks operating in the name of private security outfits and criminals.
“This squad, which is a special one would with the aid of intelligence lead, proactive collaboration and swift in reacting to any untoward event, conduct robust patrols, pin- downs, stop and identification checks and sting operations primarily to achieve these objectives.” he said.
The NSCDC State helmsman cautioned the newly established Tactical Squad to be firm, professional and maintain high standard in the discharge of their duties as the command would not hesitate to activate disciplinary measures on any personnel found exhibiting character unbecoming of an officer .
Acknowledging the good working relationship between the NSCDC and other security agencies in the state towards achieving coordinated response to any security concern, Maku assured that the NSCDC would fight the scourge of infractions on any critical, national, state and Local Government assets and infrastructure with full strength in the state.
The NSCDC state boss expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for his unwavering support to NSCDC, which has translated in the Corps dedication to maintaining peace, law and order in the state .
He reassured members of the public of the command’s determination to ensure a safe environment for Ndi Anambra and residents alike during, before and after the Yueltide season urging them to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest NSCDC formation for prompt response.
