There was a festive mood in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State as Senator Stella Oduah was conferred with the prestigious Traditional title of “Omu” by the Traditional Chief Council of Ogbahu led by His Royal Highness Victor C. Awogu.
The former Lawmaker received the Traditional Honour on Saturday during an epoch ceremony held at Ogbahu community of Anambra North.
According to His Royal Majesty Victor C Awogu who is the “Atamanya of Ossomela”, Stella Oduah was conferred with the Royal Honour in recognition of her Public and Philanthropic services to the community and the Senatorial District at large.
Notably among other contributions of Stella her was the pioneer Champion and sponsor of the newly signed South East Development Commission ( SEDC ) Bill as a member of 8th and 9th Senate.
It was a carnival atmosphere as the event drew the attendance of hundreds of community residents who converged to witness the grand occasion including prominent Government, business and social personalities especially Representatives of the State Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Speaker of the Anambra State Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze also led other members of the State House of Assembly to the event.
His Royal Highness Chuma E Onyia the Agaba idu VI Okakwu of Odekpe Kingdom served as the Chairman of the occasion.
Other eminent Royalties present were;HRH Dr. N. Esimai igwe Ohita; HRH Oduah Lawrence O lgwe Akili Ozizor; HRH Fidelis Onumonu lgwe Umunankwo; HRH Fidelis Odebe Igwe Mputu; HRH Ngoddy Azuka .A Igwe Atani; HRH Nwafili Ikechukwu Igwe Akili Ogidi; HRH Patrick Nwasike Igwe Obeagwe and HRH Barr Ijomah V.O Igwe Ochuche Umuodu.
His Royal Majesty Awogu who spoke on behalf of the Traditional Council of Ogbahu said that Stella exhibited exemplary leadership over the years and showed tremendous love and support to the Ogbahu community.
He highlighted her long standing sterling achievements in the provisions of democratic dividends in addition to championing the cause of welfare, security and infrastructural development of Ogbahu people.
He said; “Your nomination is based on the submission of Council, which has judged you to have contributed excellently to the development of your communities and Ogbaru Kingdom as a whole.
“You have earned this title and this prestigious title is FREE and it is in recognition of what you meant for Mankind”.
“From the construction of basic Infrastructures like schools , roads , water and empowerment you have indeed proven yourself worthy of this recognition”.
Responding Sen Stella appreciated the traditional ruler for the gesture, she described the Title as a huge Honour promising to uphold the values and traditions of the people.
She said; “I promise to work tirelessly to promote peace, progress, and prosperity in our land. Also, I want to promise Ogbahu people hope and prioritized development.
Stella also extended her appreciation to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, her family , close associates and well wishers.
The event was characterised with a rendition of Stella’s biography, the hallmark of the event was the crowning ceremony during which she was handed over Traditional items and certificate signaling her new Title.
