Senator Dr Tony Nwoye, representing Anambra North Senatorial District, officially kicked off one day Free Integrated Medical/Surgical Outreach in partnership with National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) in Nsugbe town.
He donated the sum of N15m cash with N7.5m for each Medical Outreach centres as Christmas token to vulnerable persons and others who came for the treatment.
Speaking with journalists at the event organised at Anaky Event Centre Abata Nsugbe for Urban Areas and Community Primary School Campus 2 (known as Uno Akwukwo Ndida) Nsugbe, Nwoye expressed worry over untimely death due to treatable diseases.
He said the launching of the free medical outreach for indigenes and residents of Nsugbe was strategic in assisting his constituents understand their health status and improve their life expectancy.
“The outreach is targeted at offering free treatments for those diagnosed with hidden ailments in the Senatorial District.
“The initiative is also aimed at improving the life expectancy of the populace and bringing the dividends of democracy closer to the people, regardless of age and status.”
According to Nwoye, each beneficiary should go home with at least the sum of N5000 as a token from them in the spirit of Christmas celebrations.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Ukamaka Nweze appreciated the lawmaker for organising the medical outreach, adding that it has helped her discover an underlying health issue, for which he is now receiving treatment.
