A mega Non-Governmental Organization with the objective to empower mothers, protect children, fight poverty, introduce skills acquisition initiatives, among many others has sprung up in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anamabra State.

The NGO under the aegis of Nkeobi Care Foundation was inaugurated in the industrial community Sunday with such personalities as the Obi of Nnewichi, His Highness, George Onyekaba; patron of the foundation, Chief Muoka Agbalanze; Ozo Emeka Ibekwe; Mrs Joy Okonkwo of the Great J. Enterprises Ltd.; the Chief Executive Officer of Social and Integral Development Center (SIDEC), Anambra State, Mrs Ugochi Ehiahuruike, and a host of other dignitaries present.

Speaking during the ceremony, founder of the NGO, Mrs Ibekwe Nkechi said the event was not just the beginning of an organization but the start of a journey towards creating hope, fostering empowerment and transforming lives.

She explained that the organization was fashioned to lift the downtrodden, to protect the vulnerable, and to provide opportunities for those who do not have a voice.

Enumerating some of the achievements of the NGO so far and the challenges facing it, Ibekwe said, “As we gather here today to inaugurate Nkeobi Care Foundation, I am proud to share some of the strides we have made in our journey so far, despite challenges we face.

“Through the generous support of individuals and organizations like Ibekwe Chukwdi, the CEO of Trendy Oil Company Ltd.; Mr Sylvester Ubochiamaka; Aloy Igboanugo Gonzaga, Roofing Company Ltd.; Mrs Anulika Ekejiuba, CEO High Class Food Ltd., and many other friends of the foundation, we have been able to pay tuition fees for 30 pupils across Nnewi, Nnokwa, and Ojoto secondary and primary schools.

“We have been able to support two women to establish small businesses, creating a means of livelihood for their families. We have offset hospital bills for several patients, including one cancer patient, who sadly passed away despite our efforts.

“Others are feeding the poor masses within our communities. We celebrated Christmas with some underprivileged families on December 25, 2024, spreading joy and hope during the festive season.

“We visited Old People’s Home, Nnewi and RECDOT, Ozubulu, where we donated essential items to support the less privileged and the handicapped, “she enumerated.

She noted that in the midst of the achievements, that the foundation acknowledged that its journey had not been without challenges.

She named means of transportation as one of the challenges and paucity of funds to run the organization.

The founder said the scale of work keeps reminding them of the enormity of the organization’s mission.

“However, we view these challenges not as obstacles, but as opportunities to unite, innovate, and make a lasting impact.

“With the unwavering support of compassionate individuals like you, we are confident that we can turn these challenges into stepping stones for greater achievements, “she added.

She appealed to well-meaning individuals and corporate organizations to join hands to amplify the impact of Nkeobi Care Foundation.

She declared that it is a mission that requires not just passion but also resources and support.

Mrs Ibekwe said the support could be through financial contributions, advocacy, or active involvement and a strong network of compassionate individuals, partners, and collaborators to enable the organization to reach more lives in need.

One of the men of God at the event, Evang Lotanna Ezukwo called on people to cultivate the attitude of giving which he said would attract bountiful rewards from God.
