A dramatic situation is unfolding in a state in the South-East, where a former governor is demanding a staggering N8 billion from his successor, citing campaign expenses.

This shocking revelation has raised eyebrows and sparked intense debate.

Sources close to the matter have revealed that the former governor’s demand has been further complicated by the involvement of his wife.

Allegedly, she has been mounting pressure on her husband to collect the debt from his successor, insisting that the money must be paid.

“She’s been arguing that the debt is legitimate and that goodwill must be rewarded, our source said

However, the successor is refusing to pay, insisting that campaign debts not personal to the former governor should not be refunded from state coffers.

This stance has sparked a heated debate about the legitimacy and morality of the demand.

It’s worth noting that allegations of corruption and mismanagement of funds are not uncommon among Nigerian governors.

In fact, a staggering 30 former governors have been investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for various corruption-related offenses.

The demand for N8 billion has undoubtedly created tension, with many questioning the legitimacy of such a claim.
