Cobra Bites 16-yr-old boy to Death in Anambra

A 16-year-old boy, the only male child of his family, in Umuowelle Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, tragically lost his life to a snake bite while attempting to catch a black cobra.

The young snake catcher’s daring pursuit, which had been his means of supporting his family, ultimately proved to be his undoing.

According to villagers, the boy had been catching snakes with his bare hands for some time, earning around N20,000 per snake.

His mother, who had been encouraging his endeavours, had hoped that the income would help support their household and secure a brighter future for their family.

The weight of responsibility on the boy’s shoulders was immense, being the only son and breadwinner. His family’s hopes and dreams were pinned on him, making his loss all the more unbearable.

The snake, however, proved to be his nemesis, biting him and injecting its deadly venom into his bloodstream.

In a desperate bid to save his life, sympathizers rushed the boy, along with the live cobra in a bag, to the herbalist who had commissioned the snake. Unfortunately, the herbalist pronounced the boy dead on arrival.

The vigilante group was later called to the boy’s house, where they humanely dispatched the cobra, bringing an end to the tragic ordeal.

The community is still reeling from the loss of the young boy, whose life was marked by both bravery and tragedy.

His mother, now grief-stricken, is left to pick up the pieces and come to terms with the loss of her only son, their family’s last hope for a brighter future.death by snake in Anambra.
