Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State on Monday, sought partnership with journalists to train, enhance staff productivity and promotes academic excellence in the citadel of learning.
Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Joseph Ikechebelu dropped the hint while receiving State Working Committee members and other stakeholders of the State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in his office.
He expressed optimism that the collaboration would be beneficial to all concerned.
“We are committed to providing a conductive environment for effective teaching and learning. The University is very calm, peaceful and progressing. We are thriving.
“We need a media partnership to go higher. We want to have a productive staff, and happy productive students. When our staff are happy, and students are happy, they will be progressing.
“We have accepted to give NUJ a hand of fellowship to get done with whatever plans they have to boost our academic activities. We will help to train their members and our staff, collaborate in the next three years of Comrade Emeka Odogwu’s administration to make Anambra and Nigeria proud,” he stated.
While commending Odogwu on his achievements in office in the past three years, the VC urged him to double efforts in his second term, be magnanimous in victory and embrace teamwork so as to achieve more in the second term.
Earlier, the reelected NUJ Chairman, Comrade Odogwu said the visit was aimed at pledging solidarity and partnership with the Acting Vice Chancellor, while urging him to sustain his various innovative strategies towards transforming the university.
