The commissioning of the newly rented secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Awka, Anambra State, by its National Chairman, Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje, took an unexpected turn when some gubernatorial aspirants engaged in a heated war of words in the presence of the National Chairman.

The aspirants, however, praised Sir Paul Chukwuma, who rented the massive building complex and furnished offices in all 21 local government areas of Anambra State.

The clash began when the aspirants started speaking, and their supporters intermittently disrupted the speeches of opposing aspirants.

Security operatives intervened to calm the situation, preventing a potential brawl.

Chief John Bosco Onunkwo stated, “We were here when the party was the Action Congress (AC) and remained loyal until it became the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). Today, our labour has made the party the best in the state.”

Former Representative Chief Chukwuma Umeoji countered, “We thank God for our new office, made possible by Sir Paul Chukwuma. Today, we gather to seize power in the November gubernatorial election.”

Professor Obiora Okonkwo, a former PDP and ZLP gubernatorial aspirant, narrated his contributions to the party’s success, saying, “We all know the roles we played to get the party where it is today.”

Nicholas Ukachukwu, amidst the commotion, stated, “I am as old as Anambra State’s politics, and everyone knows Ukachukwu. Today, we receive our National Chairman, and I thank Paul Chukwuma for providing this office.

Sir Paul Chukwuma emphasized, “You cannot take over a house built by another person. I ask, why build a new one when we already have a functional and well-furnished headquarters?”

National Chairman Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje urged party members to remain focused to achieve their ambitions in the coming election.

“We should remain focused, and as a party, we will provide logistics and strategies for the election.”

State Chairman Chief Basil Ejidike lamented the neglect of loyal party members in federal appointments and urged the National Chairman to intervene.
