Anambra State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Blessing Iruma has commended the Corps members for their dedication, discipline, and resilience throughout the three-week orientation.

She made the commendation at the official closing of the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II Orientation Course, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South LGA, with camp officials and Corps members in attendance.

She described the period as an essential phase that prepared them for the challenges and responsibilities they would face in their places of primary assignment.

“Today marks the successful completion of your orientation, but it is just the beginning of your service to the nation. You have been equipped with the necessary skills, discipline, and mindset to make meaningful contributions to your host communities,” she stated.

Iruma encouraged the Corps members to integrate into their host communities across the 21 LGAs in Anambra State, emphasizing the importance of Community Development Service (CDS) projects.

She urged them to identify and execute projects that address the needs of their host communities, assuring them that such initiatives could earn them awards and recognition.

Highlighting the importance of self-reliance, Mrs. Iruma reminded Corps members about the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme they had undergone during the camp.

She advised them to pursue post-camp training to refine their skills and become self-sufficient entrepreneurs.

“I hope to see you all as successful business owners and job creators in the near future,” she added.

The event featured the presentation of commendation letters to exemplary Corps members who displayed outstanding conduct during the orientation period.

A Guard of Honour and parade display were also held in honour of the State Coordinator. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of posting letters, which assigned Corps members to various employers and institutions across the state.

Mrs. Iruma expressed gratitude to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his unwavering support of the NYSC scheme in Anambra State.

She also appreciated the people of Mbaukwu and Umuawulu communities, as well as the Njikoka Local Government, which recently built and commissioned a six-room Corps members’ lodge.

The Coordinator further acknowledged the dedication of camp officials, including the Camp Director, Mr. Augustine Ogiator, and security agencies such as the Army, Police, DSS, NDLEA, NSCDC, Man ‘O’ War, and the Red Cross for their roles in ensuring a smooth and secure orientation exercise.

With their deployment letters in hand, the Corps members now embark on their service year, carrying the lessons and values instilled in them during the orientation programme.

As they disperse to their places of primary assignment, expectations are high that they will contribute positively to their host communities and uphold the ideals of the NYSC.
