The proactive and pragmatic Mayor of Idemili North LGA, Chief Stanley Nkwoka (Ochendo Idemili) has inspected a failed portion at Afor Nkpor 4 – Road junction promising to commence rehabilitation at that portion of the road within 24 hours.

The hole or gully erosion which is at its early stage could have resulted from the heavy downpour witnessed last Saturday. The Mayor who has over the years especially during yuletide maintained operation zero pot holes in Idemili North Major Roads decided to remedy the situation before it gets worse causing road accidents to unsuspecting road users or before it takes a human life.

Speaking to newsmen about the failed portion of the road, the Mayor who was on transit with his entourage going for Monday market inspection said that he told his driver to pull over the moment he spotted the unusual pothole at the middle of road.

“I alighted from my vehicle to see what could be done to prevent further damage or forstall a situation that could cause accidents.

“We don’t need to wait until the whole road is cut off before intervention. A stitch in time saves nine. On inspection I discovered that the road caved in here because of a culvert beneath this road. The heavy rain exposed it because that potion has become weak and has been eroding gradually from underneath because of the hidden culvert.

“First thing tomorrow morning being Tuesday 31st March 2026, I will send workers to cut out that potion of the road and fix it,” said Nkwoka.
