President General of Enugwu-Ukwu Community, Chief Patrick Nworji has led the combined team of Enugwu-Ukwu Central Vigilante Group, and the Vigilante Operatives in all the villages of the Community to a Forest combing exercise yesterday at a big forest (agu Akiyi) behind Okutalukwe Secondary School Akiyi Enugwu-Ukwu.

Secretary Enugwu-Ukwu Security Council/Dir. of Admin. Enugwu-Ukwu AVG, Sir Nnamdi Onuzulike in a statement said the Agu Akiyi forest had lately become a concern to the community owing to some suspected activities of thieves, cultists, drug addicts, roadside rituals by fake traditionalists, and possibly suspected kidnapping activities.
The joint Vigilante Security Operatives led by the Director of Operations Enugwu-Ukwu AVG, a retired Group Capt. in the Nigerian Military, came in large numbers with Security vehicles, motorbikes etc fully armed to combat any grassroot security threat that may emanate from the Forest combing, and determined to ensure that the forest is never a fertile ground, or beehive of nefarious activities of hoodlums and miscreants going forward.

Two young men from different communities (one from Ezira in Orumba South LGA, and another from Aninri in Enugu State) suspected to be engaging in fake ritual practices, and illicit drugs respectively were apprehended in the forest during the combing exercise, and were taking to the Igwe’s Palace for report, and to the appropriate quarters for prosecution as directed by the Traditional Ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, HRM Igwe Ralph Obumneme Ekpeh (Eze Enugwu-Ukwu na Igwe Umunri).

In his remarks, the Igwe thanked the PG ECDU Central for his efforts in working with the Village Chairmen and Secretaries of the Community in assembling, and leading the Security team on the successful forest Combing, and equally, commended the joint Enugwu-Ukwu Vigilante Operatives for their gallantry in carrying out the security operations in the forest successfully.
The Royal Majesty promised his continued support with his Cabinet Council to the Enugwu-Ukwu AVG to ensure that our Community remains peaceful and crime-free.

In his remarks, the PG ECDU Central and general Coordinator Enugwu-Ukwu Security, Chief Patrick Nworji, said the exercise is In line with the newly passed Anambra State Homeland Security Law, and need to ensure a crime-free Community.
He thanked all the Stakeholders for their support in the Security of Enugwu-Ukwu community, promised that this forest Combing will continue every month till all the forests in the Community are rid of hoodlums, kidnappers, cultists, drug addicts, and other miscreants.

It was a peaceful, fruitful and successful forest Combing exercise yesterday by the Community Security team, and a clear signal to all hoodlums, deviants and miscreants, that Enugwu-Ukwu community will no more condone any of their bad activities in the Community going forward.
