Soludo Worked Against Tinubu in 2023 General Elections – Obiora Okonkwo

A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Obiorah Okonkwo, has insisted that Governor Charles Soludo does not have the moral latitude to rely on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in securing his second term mandate at the November 8 poll.

Speaking to reporters after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, he faulted the notion held in certain quarters that Soludo contributed to the victory of President Tinubu in the 2023 presidential poll.

Okonkwo, accompanied by dozens of supporters stressed that there is no way Soludo will enjoy any form of favour from either President Tinubu or the APC after he allegedly rebuffed a series of overtures by the APC presidential campaign trail in the build-up to the 2023 poll to canvassed for votes in Anambra state.

Okonkwo claimed that even after President Tinubu made the trip to Awka to flag off his campaign in the state, Soludo denied him the privilege of a handshake for the period he was in the state.

Okonkwo remarked that the situation was further compounded by the fact that Tinubu failed to score 25 percent votes in the presidential poll due to the alleged machinations of Soludo.

Okonkwo argued that it would be in the best interest of the APC to have one of its own as a sitting governor in Anambra state that would work tooth and nail for not only the party but for President Tinubu’s reelection in the 2027 poll.

“Our party which is being managed by seasoned politicians will never fall for that gambit any more. The party will never sabotage its candidate as it will not buy into that APGA gimmick,” he said.

Calling on the electorate not to buy into the propaganda, he assured that he would not only lead Anambra state into the fold of progressive states, but would work assiduously in addressing the marginalization of the South East geopolitical zone of the country if voted into power.

Stating that Anambra state is blessed with great men and women capable of making Anambra great realize its full potential, he frowned at the Governor Soludo-led APGA for relying on an alleged zoning arrangement as basis to allow him to complete his second term tenure.

Okonkwo insisted the central senatorial zone where he hails from is now in good stead to produce the occupant of the governorship seat since both the North and Southern senatorial zones have had their fair share of the seat since the return to Democratic rule in 1999.

He assured that the APC can be guaranteed sweeping 14 out of 21 councils in the state, and asserted that he remains the best candidate required to reposition Anambra state for sustainable growth and development.
