Wife of Anambra state Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo has urged women to advocate for a world and society willing to tackle real problems that hold them back from reaching their full potential.

Mrs Soludo made the call on Saturday in Awka, the state capital during International Women’s Day as part of activities marking 2025 International Women’s Day, themed, “Accelerate Action”

She described women as society’s biggest blessing as well as sacred that society should hold dear and celebrate always.

She said, “Women occupy an important space in the heart of nature and humanity. A woman isn’t just a light of her home. She’s her society’s biggest blessing; the heart, conscience, and heartbeat of any society.

“There’s a certain rare pride that comes with being a woman. It’s a privilege that every home and society should hold dear and celebrate always. Nothing beats the essence and beauty of womanhood. Ever imagined what the world would really be like without women?

“Every woman deserves to be protected, shielded, and celebrated. Protecting the rights and dignity of women shouldn’t cost any society constant reminders. Womanhood is sacred. Any society that fails to understand that is already headed for ruins.

“Supporting the ambitions, rights, aspirations, and dignity of women should be everybody’s goal. After all, everybody is a woman.

“As we observe International Women’s Day today, let’s continue to advocate strongly for a world and society that tackles the real problems that hold women back from reaching their full potential.

“Let’s #AccelerateAction towards ending gender inequality, lack of economic opportunities/empowerment, inadequate legislations protecting women, educational barriers, and gender-based violence. Together, we can build a society that appreciates diversity, celebrates uniqueness, and values equity and inclusiveness.

“To every woman out there, hold your head up high always. You’re the best of your kind, and there’s nothing that you can’t achieve. Set your mind to it. Happy International Women’s Day to us!”
