Ahead of the APC governorship primary election in Anambra State on Saturday, a prominent party chieftain, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu, has emphasized the significance of conducting a free, fair, credible, and transparent primary. Ochiogu stated that the only way to ensure the party’s victory in the November 8 governorship election is by presenting a marketable and widely acceptable candidate who resonates with the people.
Speaking to newsmen, Chief Ochiogu, a respected APC stalwart from Aguata Local Government Area, expressed satisfaction with the party’s growing momentum and the increasing acceptance of APC across Anambra State.

He pointed out that the quality of aspirants vying for the governorship ticket is a strong indication that APC is in a prime position to take over the leadership of the state. According to him, if the process is transparent and the best candidate emerges, the party will have an undeniable advantage in the general election.
“The calibre of men contesting for the APC ticket in this election is a clear testament to the strength of our party. It is evident that APC is the party to beat in the upcoming governorship race. However, the key to our success lies in the choice we make during the primaries,” Chief Ochiogu remarked.
He passionately appealed to the party delegates who will be participating in the primary election to exercise wisdom in their voting decisions. He stressed that this primary election is a defining moment for APC in Anambra, presenting a golden opportunity for the party to take control of the state’s governance. To achieve this, he urged the delegates to prioritize competence, acceptability, and credibility when selecting the party’s flag bearer. “The future of APC in Anambra State depends on this primary election. The choice we make on April 5 will determine our chances on November 8. We must be deliberate, strategic, and committed to electing a candidate who will be embraced by the people and capable of leading APC to victory,” he added.
Speaking further, Chief Ochiogu appealed to all aspirants to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and unity by rallying behind whoever emerges as the party’s candidate. He emphasized that once the primaries are concluded, the focus should shift towards a collective effort to secure victory for APC in the general election. “I call on all aspirants and stakeholders to put personal interests aside and work together for the greater good of our party. Whoever wins must be supported wholeheartedly because, at the end of the day, our main goal is to see APC govern Anambra State come November 8,” he concluded.
Chief Ochiogu also called on the party leadership to ensure that the primary election is conducted in a manner that guarantees fairness and equity. He stressed that giving all aspirants an equal playing field would not only strengthen internal democracy within the party but also enhance the credibility of the entire process. “If the primary election is seen as free, fair, and transparent, it will foster unity within our party and give our candidate the much-needed confidence to face the general electorate,” he stated.
