Ubah’s Replacement: Prioritize Character, Legislative Experience – YPP Aspirant Tells Constituents

A Senatorial Aspirant under the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Hon Nnamdi Ezike, has asked Anambra South Senatorial District Constituents to prioritize character, legislative experience and antecedents of those aspiring for the Senatorial position.

Ezike, who stated this in an interactive session with Journalists in Awka, observed that it is important to stand behind somebody who has something to offer for effective representation and future of the zone.

He said, “I think aside Ifeanyi Ubah who did some empowerment programmes, even some of the people that represented us before, we didn’t hear their voice for eight years. It is unacceptable.

“I will insist on moving motions of urgent national importance, like i told you Anambra South is marginalized, Anambra State is marginalized and South East is marginalized.

“So these are things that we need to liaise, cooperate, work together in harmony with other senators to come together and synergize so that we can find a way of making sure that our area is duly represented”

According to Ezike, with the current situation in the district, it is important to elect somebody who understands the needs of the district and have the courage, knowledge and experience to be part of the conversation to attract federal presence to the district.

” Unfortunately, my constituency, Anambra South District has no single federal presence, no Airport, Seaport, good roads, no infrastructure. It should not be so and must not continue to be so. That is why i decided to go there and present the needs of my people.

“I also intend to do a lot of empowerment programmes for the youths. We need to set up Skill Acquisition Centres so that people can be trained on skills”

Ezike, who formerly represented Nnewi South State Constituency, noted that he possesses the experience, integrity, antecedents and foresight demanded for top level representation at the senate.

” Having been in the State Legislature and not only having been in the state legislature, i have taken several states not less than 10 states for oversea training on law making, legislative work including our state Anambra.

“So i am not an emergency politician or legislator, this is my career and i have even taken National Assembly Members to oversea training”

He argued that despite being at the State House of Assembly for one term, he played impactful roles on issues that concerned his constituency and embarked on critical empowerment programmes for the people.

While commending the state of affairs in the party, he stated that he is optimistic to grab the ticket of the party.

He, then, advised party members to make wise choice by nominating him because it is only when YPP field quality candidate that it can make victorious headway in the re-run election.

” I thank God a party like YPP came up because of Ifeanyi Ubah who built up the structure, for me it was a good one. So i had to join YPP to represent my constituency”

Commenting on zoning in the Senatorial District, he posited ” Nnewi South with 20 wards is yet to produce any Senator in the Old Nnewi Division, the equity should be on the side of Nnewi South.

“So that just all we are saying and we hope that our brothers will understand that and try to support us”
