A group of community stakeholders from Nnobi in Idemili South Council Area of Anambra state has called on government and security agencies to investigate the President General, Barrister Dominic Okpala over admission he made claiming he used crystal methamphetamine popularly known as “mkpurummili” during his incarceration in a viral video.

In the video, Okpala was seen addressing his supporters upon return to the community after release from the Onitsha Correctional Centre on 10th April, 2025 where he served a sentence for contempt of court.

Okpala, who spoke in Igbo in the video, admitted to have used methamphetamine and other drugs which he did not mention their names during his stay in prison and threatened to stop anyone who stands in his way.

Reacting to the video, Palace Secretary, Chief Ezeobianumba Ajaghaku who spoke on behalf of the stakeholders such admittance had put to question the character of the PG to continue leading the community.

“At a time when the state government is fighting to end drug demand, trafficking and all forms of crimes in the state, a community leader of the status of a President General boldly making such claims in public is only but a call to anarchy.

“Barrister Okpala by using the strong terms he used in the video is directly instigating violence in the community.

“We therefore call on the state government and security agencies in the state to investigate the President General, his activities, and if found culpable removed from his position as he has become a bad influence on the youths of the community,” he stated.

Chairman of Awuda village, Nnobi, Mr. Nnaemeka Okwelume wondered why President General would instigate violence on a community he had vowed to protect.

“Barr. Okpala has been fomenting trouble in the community after he made attempts to illegally amend the constitution of the community and even went further to disobey court orders on the matter which landed him behind bars,” he explained.
