A Baptist cleric, Reverend Emmanuel Okoroafor, has appealed to Nigerians especially the Christian faithful to eschew bitterness and rancor as they forgive each other in the spirit of Easter.

Okoroafor, in his Easter message regretted that bitterness and rancour have eaten deep into the fabrics of human existence, but Easter offers Christians the opportunity to forgive in order to secure God’s forgiveness.

He noted, “The death and resurrection of Jesus symbolizes hope, love, and victory. Jesus made the sacrifice by his atoning death on the cross. This sacrifice of death secured our hope of eternal life.

“It demonstrates God’s immense and unprecedented love for humanity, offering eternal life and spiritual renewal. The significance of Easter lies in its fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies and its central role in Christian faith.”

The cleric pointed out that the resurrection of Jesus represents his triumph over death, as well as affirms his divinity and the promise of salvation.

“As a symbol of redemption, Easter reminds Christians of the importance of forgiveness and new life. The message of forgiveness must sound louder than it has in the past.

“Christians are encouraged to deepen their faith and trust in God as Jesus’ selfless sacrifice serves as powerful lesson in love and service. The resurrection also offers Christians worldwide an opportunity for spiritual reflection as well as renewal.

“It is an invitation for Christians to seek a closer relationship with God. May this Easter bring joy, peace, and spiritual growth to your life.

“Reflect on God’s love and sacrifice, and may the hope and significance of the resurrection fill your heart,” the cleric prayed.
