Anambra State Police Command successfully foiled a kidnap attempt at Okacha Junction, Neni, on the night of May 3, 2025. The incident occurred around 8:45 pm.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operatives attached to the Neni Divisional Headquarters acted promptly, rescuing three victims — including a husband and wife — and recovering one of the victim’s vehicles at the scene.
A Joint Security Force made up of the Military, Civil Defence, and local Vigilante groups has since joined the operation, intensifying efforts to track down the armed criminals. The security forces are also working to recover a Black Lexus 350 SUV (Reg. No: ABJ 557 LD), which the hoodlums used to escape after reportedly snatching it from one of the rescued victims.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, commended the swift response of the operatives and called on Anambra residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and maintain law and order.
