Obi Donates 10 Million Naira to Anambra School For Winning Global Competition

The Former Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi says Nigeria remains underdeveloped because it has not invested in education which drives development

Mr Obi stated this when he visited
St. John Vienney Science College, Ukwulu, to felicitate with the students that won an International Science Competition in June 2025.

According to Mr Obi, the greatest investment of any nation is that done in human capital and education sector.

He noted that the more the government invest in education, the nation will continue to grow.

Mr obi noted that it was better to invest in human capital and education than oil sector.

” If oil makes a country rich, Venezuela would have been the richest country in the world because they have ten times more oil than Nigeria and most countries of the world, but we could see that it is not about oil, it is about knowledge”.

Mr Obi who presented a Ten Million naira cheque to the school , commended them for winning the International Science Competition which he said was a sign of hard work and commitment.

He encouraged the students to be focused and study hard as education is the only thing that will make them greater and outstanding in life.

Mr Obi said Nigeria could not do much in building rails, power and other sectors because it has not invested in that which is important and critical to development.

” I thank Father Obimma, what he is doing here is what government is suppose to be doing and that is rhe problem with Nigeria. “

The Former Governor of Anambra state said the government have not priotize the critical areas of development rather the leaders are busy celebrating , Consuming and wasting everybody’s time.

In a remark the Proprietor of St. John Vienney Science College, Ukwulu of the Reverend Father Emmanuel Obimma thanked the Former Governor for the kind gesture and being a great pillar of education across the country.

” We thank God for peolle like his excellenncy , Peter Obi who have been supporting and goodwill of people philantropoc spirit . We leverage on their philanthropic gestures. I don’t have much but I believe in buying humanity. I am very happy that the vision is a reality. We are already doing well. We are success oriented “

In their vote of thanks , the students thanked Mr Obi for his love for Education which can never be forgotten as makes impact and acts with wisdom in all his endeavors.

Students of St. John Vienney Science College, Ukwulu , Dunukofia local government area of Anambra state emerged the overall winner, beating counterparts from both Nigeria and the United Kingdom to clinch the coveted prize in which top-ranking schools from both countries participated in.

The competition was jointly organized by ‘Bring It On Africa and Debate Mate UK,’ and was designed to foster cross-cultural dialogue and sharpen the critical thinking, oratory, and reasoning skills of students from both countries.

The Students noted that the support and encouragement from Mr Peter Obi will no doubt go a long way to encourage them to face the next competition which is slated for December 2025.
