The Agunechemba Strike Force attached to Awka South Local Government successfully apprehended three suspected members of a notorious criminal gang linked to Keke thefts, armed robbery, and other violent activities in Awka.
The arrest, made following credible intelligence, led to the recovery of firearms and dangerous weapons, marking a major win for security in the area.
This breakthrough highlights the effectiveness of the Agunechemba initiative, launched under the security-driven leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
In his speech, the Mayor of the Local Government Council, Mr Chinedu Okafor praised the operation and noted that the arrest would send a clear message that there is no room for criminality in Awka South.
He urged residents to stay vigilant and support law enforcement through timely reporting of suspicious activities.
The suspects are now in custody and will be handed over to the State CID for further investigation and prosecution.
