The Anambra State Police has arrested multiple suspects in connection with serious criminal activities, including possession of human body parts, kidnapping, and the diversion of goods worth millions of naira.

The arrests, made between July 4 and 6, 2025, followed intensified joint patrols by security operatives across the state, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

In the most disturbing case, officers from the Awada Police Division, working with local vigilante operatives, arrested a 25-year-old man, Samuel Eze, around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 6. He was caught along Jude Onyekwere Street in the Obosi area with a freshly severed female breast in his possession.

“The body part was recovered and deposited at the morgue for preservation. The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation to determine the circumstances surrounding the act and will face prosecution,” SP Ikenga stated.

In another operation, officers attached to the Rapid Response Squad rescued a kidnapped truck driver on Friday, July 4, at approximately 12:45 p.m. The driver had been abducted and tied up in a bush, while his truck — loaded with custard powder valued at ₦9.5 million — was diverted by the suspects.

Three men — Udegenyi Ugochukwu (38), Anayochukwu Okonkwo (47), and Good Odigili (47) — were arrested in connection with the crime and reportedly confessed during interrogation. Police said the goods, originally en route to a warehouse in Asaba, Delta State, were diverted to Enugwu Ukwu, Anambra.

Also, on Saturday, July 5, at about 4:30 p.m., operatives from the Obosi Police Division recovered an abandoned Toyota Sienna suspected to have been stolen. The vehicle, bearing registration number 736 JP and the inscription “Forum of Accountants Delta State,” was found along the Okpuno-Umuota village axis in Obosi.

SP Ikenga urged anyone seeking to claim the recovered vehicle to come forward with valid proof of ownership for verification.

The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, noting that joint security patrols — involving the Police, Military, Civil Defence, DSS, Immigration, and the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) — remain active across the state.

“The Command assures residents of its dedication to tackling crime and maintaining public safety,” the statement maintained.
