The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) senatorial candidate for the August 16th Anambra-South Bye-election, Chief Emmanuel Chibuzor Nwachukwu has hinted that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo may demolish about 6000 houses to realise rail transport system in the state.

Nwachukwu who gave the hint while addressing journalists at the Aguata Local Government Headquarters Ekwulobia shortly after his emergence as the APGA candidate for the forthcoming Anambra-South senatorial bye-election, said the governor has continued to warn that about 6000 houses would be pulled down in order to have a rail transport system as a veritable alternative to lessen the burden on roads in the state.

He said that the master plan for the rail transport system has been done and reiterated that the governor has been warning that about 6000 houses may give way for it to be achieved, describing it as very audacious. He therefore noted that by the time Governor Soludo completes his second tenure, the vision would have been realised and the mission accomplished.

Nwachukwu who said that he had previously ran for the senatorial seat but didn’t succeed, explained that this time God bestowed the grace upon him to go and represent the good people of Anambra-South in the state. He thanked the governor Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his transformative leadership, adding that it was the governor’s achievements that motivated him to run for the Senate.

The APGA senatorial candidate maintained that every Anambra person knows that the governor has done very well. That Governor Soludo has constructed over 550 kilometers of roads in the state and he doesn’t think that any of his predecessors did that.

The Anambra-South prospective representative observed also that all the major roads in Anambra State were being dualized by the governor such that by November this year coming from Nnewi to Awka won’t take up to 30 minutes.

He however stressed that one of the things he is going to the Senate to do is to support the efforts of other senators in making sure that they fixed power, fix rails and roads, pointing out that roads don’t last because there is no thriving rail system in the state.

Nwachukwu said that the Western rail system has been done but the Eastern rail system hasn’t, informing that it is one of the priorities that he has to persuade his colleagues to consider the Eastern rail transport system, if he is eventually elected into the 10th Senate.
