Meet Emma Nwachukwu, APGA Flagbearer For 2025 Anambra South Senate By-election

WHO IS CHIEF EMMA NWACHUKWU (ONODUGO), APGA FLAGBEARER FOR THE ANAMBRA SOUTH SENATORIAL SEAT?

Chief Emmanuel Chibuzor Nwachukwu, also known as Onodugo, hails from Umuhu, Ukpor, in the Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

He is a graduate of Accounting from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1987). He further honed his skills with certificates in Advanced Management Programs (AMP) from both the Lagos Business School and IESE University, Barcelona, Spain.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

His career spans several decades, during which he has held exceptional leadership roles in various major sectors:

Corporate and General Investments (CGI Ltd.):
Held senior management positions at this funds management and consulting firm.

UBA Plc: He made significant contributions at the senior management level in this leading financial institution.

New Nigeria Bank (NNB) Plc: He is a key member of the turnaround management team, he played a pivotal role in the successful recapitalization, restructuring, and repositioning of the bank in 2000, prior to its consolidation with other banks to form Unity Bank.

Berkeley Group Plc: In 2004, he helped establish this private equity firm, making strategic investments in telecoms, oil & gas, and financial services sectors. He also led the successful acquisition of West African assets from Willbros Group Inc., USA.

Willbros Group (Ascot): He served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from 2007 to 2012, overseeing operations of the major pipelines construction company before stepping down from its board.

PRIMENIZA ENERGY Ltd.: He returned to Berkeley Group in 2012 to drive the firm’s power privatization interests, including a bid for the Afam Power Plant.

Capcom Telecoms Ltd.: As Finance Director, Emmanuel oversaw the integration of Multi-Links Telecoms Ltd. and MTS Telecoms Ltd., creating a company with a 5,500 km Optic Fibre network.

Non-Executive Roles: He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at both Frontier Capital and Regus Nigeria, an international brand.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP:

Chief Emma Nwachukwu is a distinguished community and grassroot leader. He served as the President General (PG) of the Ukpor Improvement Union (UIU) from 2017 to 2020. Under his leadership, Ukpor saw significant developmental strides, with his efforts focused on fostering growth and unity in his hometown.
