Nigerian music mogul KCee has revealed that the name of his record label, Five-Star Music, was inspired by his and his brother’s love for a “flashy, luxury lifestyle.” After going solo, he wanted a brand name that reflected their ambitions.
In his interview recently KCee recounted how the idea came to him at the gym after a trip to Dubai where they had stayed at a seven-star hotel. He pitched the name to his brother, E-Money, and it instantly clicked, perfectly capturing their brand identity.
KCee said, “When I broke up with Presh, I decided to go solo. I already understood the business and I knew I don’t need anybody. I just need me. I called my brother E-Money and I’m like, ‘Hey, let’s do this.’ I was at the gym that day thinking of the name and I came up with the Five-Star idea.
I told my brother and he was like, ‘That’s it,’ because we like a flashy, luxury lifestyle. We were just thinking towards that direction. I remember we came in from Dubai that month and we were at the seven-star hotel, so we were just thinking towards that light and we named it Five-Star Music
