The Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria has commenced the construction of a modern research centre in Anambra State, aimed at boosting pharmaceutical research and quality assurance in the region.

The project, located at the Coordinated Wholesale Centre in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, marks a milestone in NAIP’s efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s pharmaceutical sector.

The new centre is part of the plan to establish similar facilities in key locations across Kano, Lagos, and Anambra.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, NAIP National Chairman, Bankole Ezebuilo, expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for donating the land free of charge.

He hailed the project as a foundation for improving drug security and organising the pharmaceutical market.

“NAIP is laying the foundation for this centre in Anambra, and this will significantly enhance pharmaceutical practice in Nigeria and beyond,” he said.

Ezebuilo reaffirmed NAIP’s commitment to infrastructure development and capacity building for the local workforce.

He stressed, “With the right infrastructure and support, we can elevate the standards of pharmaceutical practice in Nigeria.”

Also, the Past President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Azubuike Okwor praised Anambra Governor for his leadership in pharmaceutical development.

“Anambra has always been a pacesetter, especially in the South East. We fully support this initiative,” he stated.

Other dignitaries at the event included Pharm. Olumide Akintayo, Pharm. Anthony Akhimien, HRM (Pharm), Alex Uzo Onyido, and senior officials from the Anambra State Ministry of Health, among others.

The new centres will focus on stringent quality assurance, ensuring all pharmaceutical products undergo thorough evaluation before distribution.

Facilities will include conference rooms for training, workshops, and collaborative research to foster innovation within the industry.

Also, warehouses with temperature-controlled storage will preserve sensitive pharmaceutical products, guaranteeing their safety and efficacy until delivery to consumers.
