The remains of the late Hon. Justice Umegbolu Emmanuel Nri-Ezedi, former Chief Judge of Anambra State, will be laid to rest tomorrow at his country home, Uruoji village,Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Late Justice Nri-Ezedi, who died on the 8th of March, 2025 served as Chief Judge of Anambra State from 2007 to 2008.

Born into a legacy of legal excellence, he joined the esteemed law firm of Late Chief Phillip Ezebuilo Umeadi (SAN) in 1972 before establishing his own chambers, “Umegbolu Nri-Ezedi Chambers.”

A principled and sharp legal mind, Justice Nri-Ezedi built a solid reputation as a conscientious advocate and solicitor, eschewing unethical practices. His unsullied reputation earned him a partnership in “Iguh, Nri-Ezedi Chambers.”

Appointed a High Court Judge in 1993, he made history as the first Nri man to hold this position. One of his most defining moments came during the impeachment case of former Governor Peter Obi, where he delivered a landmark judgment upholding the rule of law despite intense pressure and threats.
