The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Mazi Dr. Ejimofor Opara has advised that while emergency sympathisers and other political sycophants insist late Justice Azuka’s widow should replace her departed husband in the 8th assembly, he believes very strongly that what the woman and her little children need is not the House of Assembly but a sustainable empowerment to keep the family afloat.
Opara whose statement was ladened with empathy for late Justice Azuka’s widow and her little children believes rather than delve into the murky waters of politics, her emergency sympathisers and other public-spirited individuals could rally round her with massive support financially and otherwise for her to have something very sustainable to be able to cater for herself and her underaged children.
The APGA scribe who emphasized that the idea of basking in the euphoria of making money in the legislature has plunged many a politician into poverty, explained that in as much as it may be good from the face value for Azuka’s widow to replace her departed husband on sympathy grounds, he believes that the aftermath of this decision maybe counterproductive.
Opara’s statement reads” So, in advancing my opinion on this issue I do not expect logical responses in the comment box. A part of me sincerely feel sorry that a whole lot goes amiss once death strikes. Nobody prays to die like Justice Azuka, nor would any woman wish to be widowed at their prime.
So, I sincerely sympathize with the strong widow of the Late Hon. Justice Azuka who undeservedly fell to the wickedness of a world he set out to affect positively. Good a thing, Justice is receiving justice as it is no longer hidden that his killers have long been apprehended, including those who once escaped from custody. Much of these evil kids are already negotiating a return to the earth. However, it is not in my place to show you the proceedings in the world beyond!
For the late Hon. Azuka Justice, APGA defied all protocol to mourn and even play visible roles at his funeral. For us, once death happens, every other consideration remains suspended. And this was why APGA never considered the late Azuka’s political affiliation before giving him what can be termed a State burial in Onitsha, his native land — one attended by the Governor and members of the State Executive Council. While we all mourn, we must also live. Life must certainly go on, and any one who loves Azuka must wish and do the best for his young family to thrive sustainably. This has to be strictly at the realm of charity not politics or precedence.
Azuka’s wife needs to be sustainably empowered for the sake of her little kids none of which is yet a teenager. So, this tells you the weight of the burden before us. Yet, it is his wife that would take the lead, not the social media advocates or any other person at that.
The whole idea of robing her in borrowed garbs is all, for me, a dishonorable way to ensure political correctness. Something the political Party of the Late Azuka didn’t even contemplate. The whole campaign to emplace Azuka’s widow in his stead is an unsustainably shortlived measure to a long term challenge. She needs to be empowered not thrown into the political turf where everyone nudging her would later turn around and chide her for not “packing enough money” should she be elected.
If this is about empowering her to cater to her young children and herself, then the legislature should rightly not be a place for such, unless the people of Onitsha North 1 decide otherwise. Many who have been in the State Legislature would tell you tales of how they became even more broke after their stay there. So, many who are campaigning for her are basically evading the bigger issues. And if I ever find my way to her, I would tell her to think beyond the noise! She and the kids deserve better than quick-fixes. Every one on the supporting side should think beyond the noise, including the government, Ndi Onitsha and emergency sympathizers. After this episode is gone, how should we all sustainably empower our dear sister?
Don’t tell me about election or going to the house. Many former Governors, Senators, Federal House and State Assembly members are broke. Mainly because they developed an over-inflated sense of themselves coming largely from a crowd of cheerleaders who praised them into poverty! “
