Although Mrs. Azuka Justice lost last Saturday’s Onitsha North Constituency 1 by-election to the APGA candidate Mimi Ikpeazu, she gained significant support and admiration. Her campaign was powered by a dedicated team of volunteers working tirelessly despite limited resources. Ultimately, she faced defeat at the hands of state power.
I proudly campaigned for her through my social media platforms and connected her with BBC Igbo to amplify her voice. Her story is our story—the narrative of everyday people battling a well-oiled political machine. She resonated with many because she embodied the struggles of the voiceless and oppressed widows everywhere.

Despite the outcome, good things are already coming her way politically. Senator Tony Nwoye has appointed her as his Special Adviser on Special Duties. The only direction for her now is upward.
To those who mocked her during the election and in defeat, take a moment to look in the mirror and acknowledge your own actions. ‘Well done’ as you continue to gloat.
