Anambra Assembly Summons, Moves To Suspend Lawmaker Udemezue For Revealing Constituency Allowance.

On August 21, 2025, the Anambra State House of Assembly formally summoned Hon. Bernard Udemezue, the PDP lawmaker for Ayamelum Constituency. This followed his social media disclosure of how constituency allowances in the House are disbursed and allegedly diverted by fellow lawmakers.

Udemezue had publicly shared that he receives ₦7.5 million quarterly initially—now increased to ₦10 million, claiming these funds were meant for his constituents, not for personal gain.

His posts were viewed by fellow lawmakers as detrimental to the Assembly’s reputation and even a security risk for members. Consequently, a motion urging his summons was raised by Hon. Tony Muobike (Aguata 2), with backing from others, during plenary. This led the Speaker, Somtochukwu Udeze, to refer the matter to the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics, and Privileges, with a report expected by next Tuesday.

We will keep you posted as event unfolds.
