A prominent figure in Ogbunike community, Comrade Chuma-Odili, also known as “Eze Ogbono,” has died after slumping at a public function on Saturday.
The incident occurred at a gathering hosted by a rival aspirant for the prestigious Igwe stool of Ogbunike town.
According to eyewitnesses, Chuma-Odili was in high spirits, exchanging pleasantries and preparing to spray money on dancing women when he suddenly slumped backwards.
Despite efforts to revive him at a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the news about his deat has spread on social media, with tributes pouring in from friends, colleagues, and associates. Many described him as “a fearless voice,” “a cultural icon,” and “a man who lived life with a big heart.”
Chuma-Odili was known for his generosity, often sponsoring community programs, supporting youths with school fees, and contributing to town development debates. His ambition to become the Igwe of Ogbunike had earned him both admirers and rivals.
Ogbunike community is in mourning mood, with many labeling the incident “Nnukwu Alu melu na Ogbunike” .
Chuma-Odili was a PR expert and convener of Anambra Core news media advocates.
