The Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, has said Agunechemba security outfit is empowered to arrest fake pastors in the state.
He also stated that the security outfit is empowered to go after internet fraudsters, otherwise known as Yahoo boys, and others involved in violence.
According to Emeakayi, who spoke in an interview recently said the outfit is empowered
by the Homeland Security law of Anambra State.
Emeakayi said, “The primary assignment of
Agunechemba is to complement the federal security agencies. Most importantly, Agunechemba is to enforce the Homeland Security law of Anambra State.
“The law made it clear that Agunechemba is
empowered to patrol the streets anytime of the day, to put up barricades in the streets where necessary, have the powers to arrest and then hand over to the police.
‘Agunechemba is empowered to go after
kidnappers, armed robbers, any person involved in any violence, including Yahoo Yahoo, native doctors, fake pastors… these are contained in the Homeland Security law as duties of Agunechemba.”
