The Anambra State Police Command has placed operatives of the Anti-Cult Unit and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awka Sector, on high alert to proactively address any potential security concerns arising from the ongoing Panel of Enquiry on the Awka traditional stool.

The Command warned that individuals or groups engaging in acts capable of threatening public peace would be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, said the Command had observed a disturbing pattern of comments and narratives following reports concerning the Panel of Enquiry on the Awka traditional stool, noting that such developments could escalate tensions and disrupt public order.

According to him, in a bid to checkmate inflammatory tendencies, the Police have mobilized operatives of the Anti-Cult Unit and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awka Sector, to respond swiftly to any emerging threats.

He added that all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and their operatives across the state, particularly within Awka, have intensified security surveillance, intelligence gathering, and visibility patrols to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
