Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist and armed robber who was allegedly on a mission to attack a rival cult group in the state.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the arrest was made by officers attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugu-Ukwu during an Aberdeen patrol along the Ukpomili–Ifitedunu Road in Dunukofia Local Government Area on Thursday evening.

The officers intercepted a black Lexus vehicle with registration number RSH 613 AZ, driven by a 22-year-old suspect identified as Chiemerie Udeh.

Upon a thorough search of the vehicle and the suspect, the operatives recovered a locally made pistol and five rounds of live ammunition.

Following the discovery, the suspect was immediately taken into custody, and the firearm, ammunition, and vehicle were seized as exhibits for further investigation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle may have been stolen and was being used in preparation for a planned attack on a rival cult group.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining pressure on cult-related activities and violent crimes across the state.
