The Anambra State Government has declared Friday a public holiday for all civil and public servants in the state to enable them to travel to their respective communities ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Awka by the Head of Service, Mrs. Theodora Igwegbe.
According to the statement, the approval was granted by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
It explained that the gesture was aimed at encouraging the active participation of the state’s workforce in the electoral process, describing it as both a civic duty and a vital contribution to good governance and democracy.
The statement directed all political appointees, permanent secretaries, and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies to duly inform their staff and ensure full compliance with the directive.
