By Dr. Ebuka Onyekwelu

Sir Paul Chukwuma, the candidate of the Young Progressive Party – YPP, in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State Governorship Election, has said that he will remain in the YPP. Addressing the Sir Paul Chukwuma Political Family days after the gubernatorial election, Mr. Chukwuma said he has resolved to remain in the YPP. “I have taken the time to think through it. I have entertained arguments and efforts to convince me otherwise, but after a careful assessment, I want to say that I will remain in the YPP,” Paul Chukwuma said. This revelation by Sir Paul Chukwuma was received by some members of his political family with surprise.

A founding member and leading financier of the APC in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma’s exit from the APC just before the party’s primaries in Anambra State was no less shocking than his choice of the YPP in pursuit of his gubernatorial aspiration months before the governorship election. Many had thought that Paul Chukwuma would quickly return to the APC as soon as the election was over. However, his choice to remain in the YPP, as was communicated to his political family during a meeting, has now put that speculation to an end.

According to Paul Chukwuma, he is comfortable with the YPP, and he therefore is of the strong view that together with his team, he must remain steadfast in building a worthwhile political platform, rather than abandoning it.

During the meeting, Paul Chukwuma also reiterated his stance that he is carefully observing the guber election outcome for appropriate action.
