A 20-year-old man, Chigbo Umeugokwe, has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly invading a shop, abducting a 13-year-old girl, and defiling her in a nearby bush.
The incident occurred on October 29, 2025, in Umuezeiyi Village, Achina, Aguata Local Government Area, where Umeugokwe, armed with a locally-made single-barrel gun and a small axe, stole ₦30,000 and sexually assaulted the minor.
The suspect was apprehended on November 11, 2025, following a joint effort between the police and local community security.
Umeugokwe has made a voluntary confessional statement, and exhibits, including the gun, axe, and a red polo shirt used as a face mask, have been recovered.
He is set to be arraigned in court on November 19, 2025.
“The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to ensuring justice for victims and bringing offenders to account,” said SP Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer.
